Our highly-trained California department service officers (DSO's) provide free, professional assistance to veterans of all generations in obtaining VA and other government benefits earned through service. These DSOs provide counseling on all veterans’ benefits including disability compensation, health care, pension, survivors’ benefits, employment rights, education and more. Our DSOs also help veterans assemble evidence needed to support claims, build their cases, and prepare forms and briefs.
Our department service officers are qualified benefits specialists trained to help veterans and their family gain benefits they are entitled to. We provide counseling and referral services to individuals and their families and offer a complete referral service to provide veterans with accurate and current information on the entire range of issues associated with veterans’ benefits and entitlements.
Youth and Community
Youth and Community involvement are at the very foundation of every VFW program. Working for the good of all citizens, VFW members perform hundreds of programs every day in their local communities donating over 13 million volunteer hours last year alone. VFW Programs also include education on Patriotism aimed at stimulating love of country and a deeper appreciation of our national heritage.
